Holden’s Commodore is expected to get its smallest engine in more than 20 years as Holden looks to fill demands fore more fuel-efficient cars.
According to a report by Drive, the Commodore is expected to get a new 3.0L V6 later this September. The smaller capacity V6 will get an advanced direct-injection fuel-system to further improve efficiency and most likely be mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The current 3.6L V6 in the Commodore gets an average fuel-economy of 22 mpg. The new 3.0L V6 is expected to average closer to 25 mpg.
Holden refused to comment on upcoming Commodore update saying: ”We don’t talk about future products.”
